It would be pretty hard to eat without teeth, so I would definitely have to choose teeth!!
My mother had dentures when she was 16 and never had a problem with them. I had to have all my teeth pulled according to the dentist because of "bone loss" in my jaw, so implants were definitely out. I was a receptionist at the time but my first set never fit correctly. In fact, I answered the phone one day, and my bottoms fell out! Thank heavens no one was in the reception area at the time. That was 20 years ago.
Anyway, I had them relined but they still never fit right, so I learned to eat without teeth. Of course, I never went out to dinner again, and when I went anywhere in public, I used my tops and hoped they wouldn't fall out. I also learned how to make it look like I really had teeth and could go places without them because they hurt if I kept them in more than an hour. I just couldn't talk or smile without them. One day, I was out somewhere and they hurt so bad, I wrapped them in a tissue and put them in my pocket and forgot about them. A couple days later, I cleaned out my pockets and threw the tissue in the garbage. Of course, that just happened to be the day hubby took the garbage out immediately.
Three years ago, I finally could afford a new set. I went to a "dental mill" that my aunt recommended. Tops fit great, but bottoms still don't, and I still can't eat with them. I've been trying.
BTW, the first dentist retired as soon as I got my first set of dentures so I feel that I paid his retirement because it cost over $3,000 till all was said and done with him, while the dental mill only cost $800 and was well worth it.
BUT, if I had to do it all over again, I would never have gotten my teeth out on just the dentist's word. I never had a cavity and had only lost one tooth in my 40 years.
