What's Something Good to Eat to Keep Bugs Away?
« on: February 17, 2014, 10:50:09 am »
Is there a good (or at least passable) food that makes your blood unattractive to bugs?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------That's what a Pharisee might say today. You now have the chance to respond as my mentor Jesus-of-Joseph would, and I pray that you will!

Don't know about any "foods," but I will tell you if you drink lots of sodas or sweet tea, the mosquitoes are gonna love ya!  They don't usually like it when you put rubbing alcohol on your skin.  It tastes bitter and they'll stay away from you.

If dogs and cats get garlic in their food they won't get fleas and will be resistant to ticks.   :dog: :cat:

Wow had no answer for this but the couple of suggestions I read were very interesting.  I didn't know about the rubbing alcohol or the garlic for cats and dogs.  I am going to check into the garlic idea for sure.

My dad used to tell me a teaspoon of vinegar a day keep mosquitos from biting you.

If you get this stuff called "Limacol" they will stay away for sure. When I took a trip down to the Carribbean to visit family I used this stuff, it smells like limes/lemons and definitely keep the bugs away.  ;)

Brewer's Yeast

Also good for pets, they make it in tabs that dogs & cats love.

I don't know if there are any specific foods as such, however you do perspire what you eat. I mean, there's times I've eaten curries and then my skin has reeked of curry the next day. I guess on that basis you might think about staying away of candies and sweets etc. But I really don't know, am just speculating.

Where do I get that?

You can purchase it just about any where, including Walmart.   You can order it cheaply from Amazon too.
Trader Joes, Whole Foods, any health food store.

Works & chock full of B vitamins to boot.....
