Well.. Although it was considerate to make a lunch.. Maybe on the other hand he had something planned and wanted to suprise you.. That usually is the case when something goes does like that.. Also another reason could be he wanted to go out to eat.. Men as well as woman do not come with instructions on how to's and don't do's all you can do is ask him what was wrong with what you did.. Be considerate of his feelings and turn on your listening ears.. That simple..

I think it was a good idea. It's actually something i would have done. Most of the time is cheaper to make a quick simple meal at home than spending which will cost more. I dont see the reason to get mad unless he had other plans as a surprise or something but say somethign not get mad about it

last night me and my man got into an arguement because it was late when we got home from doing errands. although he was tired, I was not and since I know we are on a tight budget until pay day; I decided to cook. I was going to make a quick 30 minute meal that we can both use to take for lunch for work and he get mad at me. My man thinks this was a stupid idea and i think it was me being considerate. What do you think FC family?
i think what you did was great  man lol

I think he was blowing off steam and in a way wanted a reason to pick a fight.  I'm not sure entirely if the meal preparation strategy (leftovers) was necessarily the true reason for the argument, but that's just me. Of course, I'm not justifying his reaction either.

I also don't know what his reasons could be for getting upset... I know sometimes my parents would get in an argument for the same reasons. My mom would also be thinking that cooking at home is healthier and cheaper. My dad, on the other hand, was also thinking he was being considerate in that since they had just spent the day doing errands out of the house, my dad wanted to give my mom a break from having to do any more work and would like to go out to eat. His thinking was that since he was exhausted, he figured that she would be as well and just wanted to have a nice relaxing evening without having to worry about cooking (or cleaning afterwards) in the kitchen.

Why in the world would you both argue about that? That puzzles me. I miss the days of having dinner on the table when I got home from work. And having the left overs for lunch was always a plus for me. Women should be respected. I think it is awesome to have someone cook a hot meal instead of going out or eating garbage. I am still trying to figure out why the argument.

Thats what we usually do in our household to save money. My husband gets more upset that there isnt leftovers for his lunch the next day.

Don't know how long you two have been together but, I think your "man" needs to learn a few things for sure!!!!  He should be "thrilled" to pieces that you would even consider making a meal after all the other stuff!!!!!  Ah, some men don't know when to grow up!!!!!

I think your idea was a good and practical one! He must have been tired or in a bad mood. In such cases it's better not to argue, just go ahead and cook the food. Maybe if you show him the math for how much money you save by doing one big meal, he will see reason.

I see some of you members have questioned why I put men vs. women in the subject. Well the reason why i picked the subject men vs. women was because the topic had to deal with the way men and women think about certain things. In this case, it was the way my man felt about bringing his lunch vs. buying lunch to work and the different viewpoints we both had on the subject.

Men and Women are two completely different species and, I believe, are destined to be at odd with each other. Hearing your side of the story certainly paints you in a kind light and, if there was not another side to the story, I would say you were unbelievably kind, altruistic, and went above and beyond to make life wonderful.  I have a feeling that the argument may have had roots from something else that was going on in your lives?  People, in general, tend to react inappropriately in some situations because something else was bothering them.  Communication with each other may have uncovered the true source of the argument.

best thing to do, cook just enough for yourself.  then when he wants it the next day, ask how stupid it was of you to cook it then!
