I too am ready for a new phone. My old one is falling apart.

Since I have never had a smartphone, I guess I'm not the best one to give advice. I do like the looks of the Samsung and I'm planning on getting one of those. I have heard that Android devices are good.

My primary focus is being able to take some good photos.

Good luck on finding a phone you like. :)

I look forward to hearing some advice from those who are more knowledgeable about this than I am.

I would wait until after the first of next year until Motorola releases their new smartphone in the US.

It's supposed to compete with the $600 ones and costs less than $200.

No way am I going to fall for those sucker deals the big companies offer to give you a free phone, I will buy my own thanks.

Try Amazon or do a Google search, but realize it's going to whack you about $550 for one. Sure you can get one of the major carriers to give you one free or almost free, but in the long run it will cost you even more.

I couldn't really give any real suggestions BUT I'd just do some research and look mostly for reviews on what they do and prices if their locked or not depending on what you want. I wished unlocked ones weren't' so pricey. but I would stray away from apple if you're looking for cheap while they are brand name and have quite the reputation they have some of he most expensive mp3 / Phone / tablets on the market.

They are not as pricy as people think after you do the math. I would rather pay $500 or $600 for a phone I own that is unlocked and can be switched at will, than an extra $40 to $60 a month on my bill for the next two or three years.
