Facebook Friends vs real friends

I have about 1200 Facebook friends, and certainly they are not all my friends in real life.  In fact, not all are people several are places of business.  I started adding people from my high school class, and then some people from 1 year ahead of me and behing me in high school, and the college classmates, etc.  Then more and more people started adding me some I was not really sure I knew, but I hate to give someone a downer day so mostly I just added them.

I would say I know most of the people on Facebook, but I'd say at most 100-200 are or ever were actually friends.

How many of your Facebook friends are your friends in real life? I have a lot of Facebook friends that I've never met, mostly because of money-making programs and the like. I don't really have any close friends in real life, and my casual friends aren't on Facebook. But I guess it's just as well, because most of my free time I spend online anyway.

I know everyone on my facebook list personally except one.  I have never met her but I am friends with her husband and I know him.  So I accepted her friend request.  And I talk to her on there from time to time.  Most are family that lives in other places.

I'm only on Facebook to keep up with my grandkids.   I love  all the pictures my daughter-in-law post of the kids. The impromptu pictures are priceless.  My sons just laughs because that is my main purpose for being on there.
I don't think  I want to share all my info with "casual friends" and people I use to hang with, etc..... and IF I want you to know all about my life...I will personally let you know and not plaster it all on the net. 
JUST MY OPINION ... people need to get back to the basics of life...real person to person friendships that mean something!
Not just a bunch of yackety-yackety  online chatter.......
But.....whatever rocks your boat is good with me............

Lots of virtual friends whom in all likelihood I'll never ever meet, however, there are a few that have moved closer to becoming a real friend.

  I know it's very sad for me to say, but I don't really have many real friends    so I really value my Facebook friends

I rarely add people I don't know in real life on Facebook. Unless we've been internet buddies for a long time, I usually don't even give them my Facebook. For me, Facebook is just for real life friends and relatives.
