You'll eventually get it because you keep trying.  The plateau has to break at some point if you keep working at it.  Just try to be patient and keep challenging yourself to eat better and work out- easier said than done right? I know lol  Just don't give up. If you binge one day that's ok, the next day is a new start, so go for it!

All of that sounds good, but you really have to stick with it, which have been hard for me but I keep trying. :crybaby2:

I agree, it has to be a lifestyle change, but it can definitely be done.  I lost 30 lbs.  It can be done, challenging doesn't mean impossible.  Maintenance is something a lot of people don't think about, so your post is on point about keeping it up.

I wish you all the best on your quest to lose weight. Remember that once you lose the weight, you have to maintain your vigilance, or you'll gain the weight back. And many people not only gain it back, but gain back more than before. Not to be a total spoil sport, but after diets, you can't return to your old way of eating.

It kind of takes a forever lifestyle change that most people won't commit to.

That being said, my cousin and her husband have come across the points program on Weight Watchers and they've had tremendous success, especially with combining exercise along with their weight loss program. And they still enjoy the things they don't want to give up, like some social drinking and killer good foods.

Buena suerte, chica!

Cutting back to twelve hundred calories sounds a bit extreme...did you run this past your doctor first? There are so many diets out there-three day hot dog diet, five day potatoe diet, ice cream diet, seven day soup diet, and fourteen day mayo clinic/scarsdale diet.  The Mayo clinic diet worked the best for me because it allowed me to shave off twenty pounds before every marathon and allowed me to have a somewhat normal eating schedule.  I think that it is much easier to work out/exercise in conjunction with healthy eating patterns.  It stands to reason that if you melt two hundred and fifty calories on the bike in the morning and another two hundred and fifty at night you could increase your intake by five hundred calories and still maintain your goals,

With all due respect, sara, I'm glad you're happy with your weight, but you're probably at an acceptable weight right now, aren't you?

Of course you shouldn't lose weight to impress someone else. But you should maintain a healthy weight because of all those nasty diseases which rear their ugly heads when you become overweight. Nuff said since you probably already know that.

I never needed to watch my weight before, but now I have to be a little more conscientious to keep those pounds from packing on. If you stay mindful of what you eat, you can maintain a healthy weight. Eating in front of the t.v. is a killer, and I know that from experience.

Anyway, I want to be as healthy as I can be for long as I can.

BTW, I like you! You're a super :star: just cause you're you.  ;D

That sounds like a great idea!  I have heard a lot of good reviews about those type of apps.  Good luck to you!

I have recently been looking for ways to loose a few pounds. Since last year I have found myself on various different diets that have had my weight fluctuating. I recently came across this app that I downloaded to my smartphone. It helps me to keep track of my meals and how many calories I'm taking in. I am currently on a 1200 calorie plan, that will have me down to 145 lbs by December 24,2013. I'm excited considering that I have already lost 3 lbs in this week alone. This is a free app, that is kind of similar to weight watchers but instead of points it gives you a specific calorie intake based on your current weight and how much weight you are looking to loose. I'm excited, and motivated.

I bet I know the app - "my fitness pal"??  Cause I have that one and it is very useful for tracking everything from food to water, exercise and such and you can even contact other "friends" to encourage each other!!!

I bought the book " 17 day diet" and I lost 14 pounds the first 17 days.  It is awesome.  So you might want to try that one.  They sell at walmart.  That is where I bought mine.

Do you drink green tea on that diet?  I'm asking because I think it's required and green tea makes me hurt like I have a problem with fibromyalgia.
Have a great day!

I thanked your post for that information. I didn't see every post in the thread so I was wondering if you would mind telling me what your app is? That sounds like a very useful app if a person has a smartphone and wants to not only lose, but maintain weight loss.

I also heard someone say a way to help lose weight is to suppress your appetite by drinking tea. He told me you should drink Oolong tea before your meal and Yunnan Bonay (Puerh) tea after your meal. He said it helped him to lose weight by suppressing his appetite which, helped him desire smaller portions as well. However some may want to be careful with the Yunnan tea because while it can cause your body to release toxins, it can also make you a little tired too. For some people it might be better taken before bedtime rather than earlier in the day. Maybe after dinner. However if it doesn't make you tired or you can adjust to the relaxing and calming effect of it you could probably take it with earlier meals.
