I had heard President Obama mention that he wanted the minimum wage raised to $10 nationally during a recent State of the Union address. I don't know if it will happen, but I would like to see that happen because prices have gone up so much that I believe people do need a real increase in pay. We have noticed how since the gas prices have risen, that the prices of food and so many things have jumped. Even when gas went back down at times, other prices didn't even though producers have blamed gas prices for other prices rising. Hopefully a higher minimum wage will help people adjust better to rising prices.

Why stop at $10? If raising the minimum wage actually works, why not $20, $50, or even $100? Nothing more than politics over economics.

Does everyone realize that the minimum wage fairly recently - within the past few years has increased - before that I think it was about 15 years since the last increase - If we constantly raise the minimum wage every few years we will be paying about $10 for a big mac. I know this sounds cruel but, the minimum wage was not really where we were suppose to be looking for a job. These jobs just 15-20 years ago were prodominantly left for teenagers, now you see senior citizens working these jobs just to make what SS does not pick up. I really don't think the minimum wage is the way to be going, we as a country need to have more jobs in Manufacturing which would give a better and higher wage than just the minimum.

If USA boost it's minimum wage to $10 or higher, then the prices for consumer goods will also increase to match it.. Like back then, $100 dollars is a lot of money and consumer goods were in low price (like gas, milk, gum, etc)

I'm all for the minimum wage being raised as long as it doesn't force small business owners to shut their doors...
