I would like a better support system
« on: May 30, 2013, 07:10:07 pm »

I'm actually very disappointed with my family.

Not in the way you may think, but..

I really wish to get a Congratulations after having just been awarded 7 awards,
4 of which are scholarships.

I would really like a, you will do well.

But I don't get that. On top of that, I get home after receiving them, and all I get is a
can you do this and that? Why are you such a hassle?

It hurts I won't lie.

I can't wait to get away from "home," so that when I finally do come back to visit I can enjoy and appreciate my
time being rather than disliking every minute of it.

congrats on the awards it is too bad that your family cant be more supportive. Just remember it shouldn't matter what others think of you. You are special even if other don't know it!! Try and stay positive and your future looks bright.

People get so in their own problems and such that they can't even acknowledge someone elses cause they feel they haven't accomplished anything.  Just keep up the good work and surely someone will notice what you do.

Head for the mirror and smile at yourself. The real rewards will come later and it will be hard for them to overlook your success. Let it happen naturally.

Thank you all.

It's been such a harsh hit in the face.

But I will do just fine like always.

You have been fortunate to receive 7 awards, 4 of which are scholarships, and your family didn't thank you?  I will congratulate you on your achievement.  I know how it feels.  I get no recognition from my family, only from non-relatives; these are people who always knew I would succeed.  I wouldn't worry about it; give yourself a pat on the back for your accomplishments.

Wow!  Congratulations to you!  You sound like you worked very hard for those awards.  It's true that when you don't get along with members at home, you being away from them (and vice versa) really helps both sides appreciate what they no longer have.  Been there, done that!

That is sad. But don't let that get you down. Stay strong and keeping getting awards, eventually someone will start noticing.

WAY TO GO!  CONGRATULATIONS!   You are going to need everything you can get your hands on financially at Irvine.  So great for the scholarships.  I know it is hard, but don't let the family get you down because they are not positive.  You stay that way girl, you are doing FABULOUS  :notworthy:

That's too bad.  Some people just aren't demonstrative or affectionate.  I'm sure they are proud of you but may have a hard time showing it.  Maybe they show it in other ways.

We can't choose our family. Luckily we can choose our friends. You will just to surround yourself with supportive and encouraging people. College will be a great place for you to start finding those people. And you've got us!

A wise man once told me when I was a young man that if you never want to be disappointed by people, expect nothing of anyone... never has there a statement more true.
