Snowing in APRIL ?!?!?!?

I live in chicago and am surprised we had huge flooding yesterday with some towns even declaring a state of emergency and today we have snow wow crazy weather!!!

ohio has been just as bad....it hit 80 thursday then fridays high was 41...nuts!!

To the OP you are not alone. Last year in my neck of the woods it snowed in April too. I had never seen such a thing and was surprised to see that happen. Usually April is warmer than that, but it stayed cold for a little while to start that month.

We are no stranger to other weather anomalies. Quite a few years ago during what is usually the hottest month of the year in August it was actually cold for a couple of days and we had to wear coats for warmth. I've never heard of August being that cold even in the Midwest, but it happened. We live in a humid continental climate that gets all 4 seasons so maybe that is why.

I can't remember the years because I was a kid but I remember having snow here a couple of times in April.

March and April ar snow months for the plains of Colorado-which is where I live.  There wasn't any snow in March but we are on our fourth snow storm with a fifth on its way for tuesday. We an use the precipitation! Our rivers are lower than usual although the meltoff from the mountains usually brings river levels up in June which makes for excellent river rafting.  I used to live in the North, Wisconsin, and was accustomed to the skies being overcast from September first through May 30th and then really bad heat and humidity for thirty days. Kind of nice to be faced with over three hundred days of sunshine in Colorado and no humidity!
