« on: April 23, 2013, 02:10:18 pm »
how do many of you feel that they are taking away money that you use to get just for having children?

It is a thing of the past. After all if they are not going to raise taxes they will take it away another way. It is only going to get worse. Don't blame me i didn't vote for him.

I'm not sure where you got this idea, but the child tax credit is not gone, nor are there plans to get rid of it.

wait, what?
someone will have to explain what this is. i don't have children,
so i'm unaware of what you're talking about.

and how would it be to control the population? i don't think people
have children just to get money (unless we're talking about the
ones popping them out every other year to receive welfare?)
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

My daughter was too old to claim the credit when it was enacted.  It seemed to be an incentive to some people to have more children ~ more food stamps, welfare, tax credits,.....
Have a wonderful day!

The bonus tax credit for each child is disappearing.  The future of your tax picture is drastically changing.  It is not the rich who will suffer but the middle class.  The medical expense deduction will change from 7% of your income to 10% when the new healthcare program kicks in (so, if you itemized expenses, you will lose here too), and if you sell your home, the fed will take 5% off the top for tax in addition to the capital gains tax you will pay.  This amount is going up also.  But hey, some folks need their 5 million dollar vacations in their 20 million dollar summer homes and somebody has to pay.

Hard to consider $1000 an incentive to have more children when you consider the actual costs of raising a child.

Actually it's not. The child tax credit was permanently extended.
