I agree.  Don't be too trusting.  The person you allow into your life has two sides:  Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.  My ex could be sweet and change in two seconds.  I discovered none too late that he was an ex-con (his record was so long it could have made three books, having started his crime wave at the age of 12).  He personally told me he had been in jail for attempted murder.  I found out how desperate he was when he was arrested for standing on the corner.  He called me, told me the deputy wanted to talk to me.  He asked me who the first person was, and I told him that was my daughter, who was 9 at the time.  He asked me about his mother, who had passed in 1982; he had given her name to get out of jail and she had been gone for 14 years.  He actually had the colossal nerve to be upset with me when he was planning to use his child and his dead mother to get out of jail.  I wanted to know how was his mother going to okay him to get out on house arrest when she had been dead for 14 years.  The deputy told everyone and they laughed at him.

When it comes down to nowadays, it pays to do a background check.  You can be with a person that has been lying to you from the get go and won't know it until it is too late.  I remember reading in the newspaper that a woman married a man and found nothing strange about it until he told her to take a bath in cold water.  She thought it was odd but did as he asked.  When she went to dry off, he told her not to do that.  He told her to lay down and close her eyes and admitted to her that he was a necrophiliac; he had sex acts with dead people.  That drove the poor woman to seek psychiatric help.

Have you watched any shows on Investigation Discovery?  They tell all the time about women who meet men and tell them one thing when it turns out they are something different when it is over.  That is why I believe background checks are necessary.

THATS IS TRUE THESE DAYS U DEF HAVE TO A BACKGROUD CHECK TO REALLY BE SURE PEOPLE ARE WHAT THEY SEEM TO BE BUT EVEN WITH THAT YOU HAVE TO TAKE PEOPLE WITH A GRAIN OF SALT AND HOPE FOR THE BEST.

background checks should be on the one that own guns also, but the only one anyone should be trusting is God and God only.

I so agree.  I wish I had done a background check on my ex-husband!!!!!!  I now know from hindsight that even though he was military means nothing! My goodness, if I said the things I know now about him and his family that I learned way too late I would give you all nightmares.  If something as simple as a background check could have prevented all the garbage I lived through, I would have RUN the other way quickly.

Buying weapons should require an automatic background check on a National Level. But also responsible citizens should keep there weapons safely locked away. Conceal permits I think should also look into medications. To fly an airplane is that not a consideration to getting a pilots license?
