One year for a goldfish, Wow! that has got to be some type of record. I have never seen one that lasted more than a few weeks. I think they must need some really controlled conditions in order to have that kind of lifespan. Perhaps you are the goldfish whisperer? Maybe you know the secret,  maybe you could blog about it. That would be great or even fish in general. I think a lot of people who have fish as pets would be interested. :)

I had goldfish for a long time as a teenager. But I tend to like cuddly pets better. So now I have a cat, dog and horses.

I use to have goldfish. They're pleasant to have in the home, but cleaning the tank is timely and kinda yucky.  I later switched to guppies- it's NOT true that guppies and goldfish can cohabitate, my son was the one who noticed a guppy was missing and then we saw a guppy skeleton floating in the corner of the tank.  It was then I found out that goldfish will eat anything that fits in their mouths.  I'll put a couple of fish in the bathroom when I move into my home for a soothing effect but it'll be only 2 and in a fishbowl.  I want canaries, but I worry they may be too loud at night, someone was telling me just to put a cloth over the cage but I also worry about clipping their wings and nails.
