Taking family out for dinner?
« on: March 08, 2013, 05:43:18 pm »
Today is friday. How often do you take your entire family out dinner?
If you and fam out for dinner, what do you guys order to eat for dinner?
Do you ordered indivitually or ordered lot and share together?

For the first time, in twenty years, I have sat down and looked at what our family spends-just through our checking account and was utterly amazed. Going out to dinner here and there cost us right around fourteen thousand dollars last year. Eating at work for lunch, myself and spouse, amounted to one thousand dollars.  Kid's school lunches(in lieu of making their own) came to twelve hundred dollars. Coffee and liquor store purchases came to about seventeen hundred dollars. Netflix, blockbuster and redbox came to about four hundred dollars.  That is over eighteen thousand dollars blown on costs that should have been more in line with six thousand dollars.  My wife and I are going to have a talk about this tomorrow.

WOW  :o

eating out really DOES add up! i did the same thing
and added up all of my eating-out expenses just from going
a few times a week at work on my lunch break. um, it was
something like $50 in one month? $50 might not be much to
some people, but that's a lot to me. that's easily an extra bill.
i really put the brakes on eating out after that...

we'll go out to dinner once every few weeks, pick up a pizza
here and there, but we've definitely cut back and i can tell
a significant difference $$. i think it's just so EASY to do it,
that you trade convenience for practicality.

to answer the question -- it's just me and my fiance, but we
never share. i like to box up half to bring home. he's predictable
and usually chooses parmesan chicken, chicken alfredo, or burger/fries.
i'm the one who likes to try new stuff, so it depends on my mood!
i like to have some type of meat with sides, usually...

After cooking for years, my kitchen is closed Friday and Saturday nights.  We rarely share, we order whatever each of us want.  I know it's expensive, but it's become our treat to ourselves.

My husband and my daughter both prefer my cooking over take out or restaurant food.  To me, this a huge compliment.

So, our treat is me making a huge feast, which I do about once a month.

We have been going out more...trying different restraunts lately. The weekends are always so crowded though and we cannot hardly get a table anywhere.

With 3 kids under 4, going out is such a chore that we almost never do it. Maybe 2-3 times a year.

My family goes out for dinner maybe once or twice a week. The event is always a treat and sometimes the cooks in the family just don't feel like cooking. Eating out with extended family or friends is also a good motivation.

I am a chef and am often times disappointed in restaurants. We prefer to eat at home instead lol!

My husband is used to home cooked meals and we eat out maybe once or twice in a month.  I love Popeye's Chicken; usually I order a 3 piece dinner, white, spicy with mashed potatoes.  He loves KFC and will buy enough to fill up everybody.  Lately I have had a thing for Chinese food, so I will spend $6 for a carry out dinner.  My grandson loves McDonald's, but we don't get there too often. ;D :D

We try to go weekly specially on Sunday cause I hate to cook on Sunday. I get out of church and we are starving so we end up going to fast food place. We all get what we want.   :D
