For the first time, in twenty years, I have sat down and looked at what our family spends-just through our checking account and was utterly amazed. Going out to dinner here and there cost us right around fourteen thousand dollars last year. Eating at work for lunch, myself and spouse, amounted to one thousand dollars. Kid's school lunches(in lieu of making their own) came to twelve hundred dollars. Coffee and liquor store purchases came to about seventeen hundred dollars. Netflix, blockbuster and redbox came to about four hundred dollars. That is over eighteen thousand dollars blown on costs that should have been more in line with six thousand dollars. My wife and I are going to have a talk about this tomorrow.
WOW
eating out really DOES add up! i did the same thing
and added up all of my eating-out expenses just from going
a few times a week at work on my lunch break. um, it was
something like $50 in one month? $50 might not be much to
some people, but that's a lot to me. that's easily an extra bill.
i really put the brakes on eating out after that...
we'll go out to dinner once every few weeks, pick up a pizza
here and there, but we've definitely cut back and i can tell
a significant difference $$. i think it's just so EASY to do it,
that you trade convenience for practicality.
to answer the question -- it's just me and my fiance, but we
never share. i like to box up half to bring home. he's predictable
and usually chooses parmesan chicken, chicken alfredo, or burger/fries.
i'm the one who likes to try new stuff, so it depends on my mood!
i like to have some type of meat with sides, usually...
