How do you know if a person is really sincere?

What is your opinion of a homeless man who stands at an intersection holding a sign "please help?" Do you usually ignore because sometimes you hear people telling you they are the same people that take advantage of you and they just looking for some cash to buy alcohol and or drugs. Or do you just give them whatever extra change you have and leave it to God to be the judge? I have heard both sides of why people would stop and help, and why people would just turn the other way, or simply ignore. What would you do if you're by yourself? or with family members and friend?

If I have extra change I would give it to them. I have been in the homeless scene so even if it is alcohol, I don't know about feeding a drug habit, it may be the only thing they got. I know that sounds bad coming froma Christian but the streets are tough and making it through each day is overwhelming, nowhere to sleep, nothing to eat. nothing and not future.

The best thing to do is to go with your feeling. It is your choice to feel inside your heart if it is the right thing. I don't think there's a right or wrong answer for this. If your heart says yes then give!
