Light candles, and do some reading.

We have candles.  A lot of them.  A LOT!  When the power goes out, we light candles and read to each other.  I have Multiple Sclerosis and have noticed that with less power around me, I feel better, so we try to to power down as much as possible anyway.

If I'm by myself, I usually take a bath by candle light or go to bed.
If my kid is awake, then I try to make sure she isn't scared and play games.

If the power is out for too long and it is the middle of the day we will usually go somewhere. At night... um, I'm asleep :D

Ok so the day yesterday here in Tx was just so crazy because we had wind at least 20 to 30 mph and there was trash, leaves, and toys flying everywhere but the worst thing of all the power went out where i live and omg i had nothing to do so i was in my home for 2 hrs with my three kids at home doing nothing so i tried to sleep but somehow it did not work, my kids are not like me they can always find something to do with anything..
Dude! That was the worst wind storm I have ever encountered in Austin!!! My kid had to stay inside all day, and YES~the electricity went out 5 times!!!  When the cable went out the last time, I put the child to bed, turned off the tele, and got online.

Depends on the weather and the time of day that the power goes out. If it's during the day and it's hot outside we stay inside and try to keep from opening the doors so the cool air won't escape. If it's night time (and if I am awake) and it's during a warm season then some times we open a couple windows to help circulate the air in the house, but only if it's a cool night. During the cold months, we usually have to pile some blankets on us and lay in bed to help keep from freezing our butts off. In any weather, if we're awake when the power goes out and it's night time then we light a few candles around the house so we can see.
