I have an account at a credit union and I'd highly recommend it to anyone. Interest rate on my money market account is crap right now, but it is really nice not having a fee to take money out of the ATM.  Never used anything else but my mom has some money in another bank that's paying 1 dollar a year for about the same amount I have in a credit union, and I get about 3 dollars a month.

I have heard credit unions are best and that seems to be the general consensus here.  I had an account with Wachovia that I got 5% interest.....It was nice while it lasted but I guess it is no wonder that they had to sell their company.

Ally bank has higher than average rates but, frankly, they're not very high right now.

I wanna go through a credit union but I don't know how do you have to have a relative or work in a certain company or is there some that you don't have to?

FNBO Direct is an online bank that pays 0.85%, about 4 times the national average.  Plus it's easy to link accounts.  That's the one I use if my money's just sitting around (oh, and BTW, that's a big "if"!)
