I try to but you're right, it helps to be realistic. This year I want to quit smoking, I've even purchased an electronic cigarette (with my FusionCash money ;)) that I just love. Now whenever I smoke a real cigarette they just taste like yuck! I'm confident this is one resolution I will be able to keep.

I never make resolutions. I don't like the practice. I find it foolish to promise things that even when you make them you know in some part of yourself you cannot or will not keep, however that is just my view and not everyone's experience. :BangHead:

I have never made a New Year's resolution and I am resolved to keep that record intact.

This is the first year I've made a real New Year's resolution (as opposed to a haha, yeah right, that's not gonna happen), and since it's more of a renewed commitment to a long term goal rather than a new resolution, I think I'll actually keep it. I did once read, though, that it's better to make resolutions mid-year as opposed to for the new year, since people tend to be less busy during the middle of the year. The theory is you have more time to commit to actually keeping your resolution and are more likely to succeed.

And good luck to you, Juni! I just quit in November, and it's not my first time quitting, so I know it's not the easiest promise to keep to yourself.

I don't really ever make resolutions, but when I try to make changes in my life (around New Year's or not), I try to stick with it.  Maybe with 65-70% long term success.. hehe

I always make a resolution every year, but I don't think I've ever actually successful met one unless I decide to make my goals very low. Of course this is little different than making wishes at my birthday, which I also do a poor job meeting.

My resolutions have been totally unrealistic in the past and I almost never kept them. A few years ago, my resolution became to stop making resolutions and that's worked out pretty well for me  :P
