Christmas
« on: December 10, 2012, 06:08:51 pm »
I love Christmas !! Its just too bad most people have lost the true meaning. I would love to buy my daughter everything she wants. but more than anything i want to teach her to be thankful for what she does have. i want her to love her family and be considerate. of others.

i understand what you mean--i remember when i was a child we looked so forward to certain traditions at christmas and it wasnt all about presents (cause we didnt get many ) it was about family and worship --remembering the real reason for the season--things meant more back then --i wish people would slow down and take time for each other again --maybe i am to old fashion

The true meaning of the holiday has been lost long ago, it seems that everyone wants costly gifts or they get upset. :notworthy:

You are so right in wanting to teach her thankfulness for what she has because that really is the true meaning of Christmas.  But, if she's little, well you and I both know that a child's dream at Christmas is those presents under the tree that Santa brought!!!

presents are a big part of Christmas day you can't get away from it,but you don't have to spend a ton on expensive gifts maybe that is the problem. I'm getting gifts like cologne (old spice or some thing like it),pajamas, socks, candy, maybe hickery farms love the sausage oh getting that for me. I also think video games are so expensive but kids have to get them. Never had expensive stuff like that when i was a kid.

I really don't care about the gifts anymore. Getting the family together and watching them enjoy
the holidays is gift enough for me!

Christmas to me as gone way to commercial, When I was younger it was about family, friends and having fun,and celebrating the Birth of Jesus.. I think if you asked most kids today other then our catholic kids who go to catholic school. some not most would not know what Christmas is.. Very very sad..

Dear Mal,
I know what you mean.  It makes me sad that people are so caught up in buying gifts for Christmas.  This may cause them to lose sight of the fact that the reason for Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Christ.  Merry Christmas!
