My virus scans, (two separate programs), do not indicate that ooVoo is malware/spyware; your evidence is ...?
Depending upon your computer's operating system, the general method for removing installed software is to use the 'uninstall' process steps.

i have two very good programs that are set for very tight security on my pc....and no malware / spyware was found when i downloaded ooVoo.  My stepson and his fiance' chat on it nightly...he is away in the military and it really has been awesome for them.

My father is a computer tech who deals especially with computers that have issues related to such things as this. This is what he does for a living and he said that ooVoo is mall-ware/spyware and that is why my computer has been freezing up. He also has installed the BEST security on all my computers and said that once you let a virus in, there is nothing that the "best" security can do about it. He had to go in deep to uninstall this software and as a professional, cannot get rid of the icon on my desktop. He is working on the issue because it is a nuisance to him.

So you may use at your own risk, but I am not and feel inclined to warn others.

A computer tech ought to know the difference between malware/spyware/virii and toolbar software that is vulnerable to those, (that is, ooVoo itself is not "mall-ware/spyware" but, may be vulnerable to them, depending upon your computer's registry vulnerability - which became apparent when the desktop icon wasn't removed after an uninstall).
Simply put, if your computer had the best anti-virus protection, why didn't it scan and issue a virus/malware warning while you were installing that software?

I'm no computer wiz and i uninstalled that from my computer using my uninstall software. I also used a registry cleaner and removed any remaining bits of software and now I don't have any part of that ooVoo left on my computer,so it can be done

i'm no wiz either. and i was not quoting my dad word for word about whether it was mallware/spyware/viral. i just heard "it is bad" and that was all i needed to know.  however, it would be wrong of me not to share what i learned with others knowing what i know. and btw, my computer did tell me that this was not from a trusted site and i ignored it's warning. that is why i said that once you let it in, there is nothing that your security can do to stop the effects. i am glad for those of you who have not been affected by this program. good for you, but i was not so lucky.
