Has anyone ever put a note in a bottle and send it up the river, ocean?....I did once and actually got a response....can you share your story?

It can happen ... there's even an urban legend from the 1940's that someone near Normandy, France sent a message in a wine bottle out to sea in June of 1944. Supposedly, the message read, "Help! - France" was picked up by some Americans who happened to be off-shore on the 6th. According to legend, the one American wrote an answer on the back of that message and tossed the bottle back into the sea. Allegedly, the answer was, "If you're French, help is on the way. If you're German, stop reading other people's mail!"

I never sent a note in abottle, but about 43 years ago when i was about 7 years old,and living on the Jersey shore, i actually gfound a note in abottle,on the beach. The bottle had made it all the way from England. I thought this was the greatest thing,especially for a bored 7 year old, at the start of long summer break from school.

No, I have never found a note in a bottle and never sent a note in a bottle, but I have read about it and it sounds fun!!!
