Honestly I think society as a whole worries too much about the whole breast feeding thing.  But than again being raised in a rural area it was around us all them time and we so did not think much of it.  For what it is worth I think it is a decision that the mother makes when she wants to stop and leave it at that.

that shouldnt be done in public, it should be done in private like a bathroom if yr out

I'm not sure at what age babies get teeth but I'm very sure it should be stopped as soon as a little nub is showing

Wouldn't that have more to do with the mother's comfort than the baby's nutritional needs?  Besides, I've heard mother's exclaim get from being firmly gummed by their babes.

When a child has Teeth  ;D  time to let the baby drink out of a sippy cup/bottle, something that allows children to mature so they can grow and take well to change in their adult life.
