Take your time and pack things right especially anything breakable.  First few nights it will feel weird being alone but you will love it after a while when you realize you have privacy.
Make sure to turn on any utilities before you move, Dont wait til afterwards.  Dont buy too many things to start as far as furniture goes, you dont want to buy whole bunch of things than you might not like where you live and want to move unless of course you signed a lease, lol.  And get to know your neighbors as soon as you can and make some friends.

Try to pack the things that go into each room togeather and mark the boxes. When you move then move all the boxes marked bedroom into the bedroom, all the boxes marked kitchen into the kitchen and so on. I like to use those plastic totes for cloths and towels, washcloths. Also plastic totes for kitchen things and food.  Try to clean the place you are moving into first, so then you can unpack right away.

I would recomend 'bombing' the apartment and then cleaning it top to bottom BEFORE moving anything in. This comes from my own experiences.

I always stock up on things as they go on sale and I have a little extra, if I know a tighter time is about to come.  I did that when I got pregnant.  The best thing I did when I moved was clean everything before it got put in a box!!!!  As I packed, every item got wiped down, put in the dishwasher, whatever!  I started selling all my items like dvds, video games, purses, shoes that I didn't want on ebay.  I did not pack anything I didn't absolutely want to bring or unpack.  If I didn't need it, I sold it or gave it away.  I even had a garage sale!  And I packed slowly.  A room or a cabinet a day and only left things out that I would still need.  I packed all my plates except 2, etc.  I did not mind moving because my stuff was reduced down to things I really enjoy and they were fresh and clean, just like my new home!!  I hope you have a good experience, too!  It doesn't have to be awful!
