It takes quite a bit of schooling.  You would have to be an accomplished Air Force pilot or scientist with studies related to space.  You would have to pass the physical / health requirements and then undergo a rigorous training program.  Watch Space cowboys and Apollo 13 for a few clues.  Talk to the Air Force or check with NASA if you're seriously interested.
