Well I live in the northeast as well but gas prices I thought were a little decent since I moved up here because around that time it was approaching $4.  I'm sure in the southeast that the prices are lower because they always werer whenever i compared the two areas.

If you are lucky enough to have reward points from your local grocery that is the best way to beat the system on these high gas prices.

The gas prices are up and will remain up. We have all been programed to understand that the price goes up high then drops back down a little every year slowley getting the price ever higher. The oil companies used to make excuses that it was because of the oil well fires, then import fees, then huricane katrina, then they were repairing and maintaining refineries.. (all were BS) After each year they posted record profits.. How could they not you charge more for a product that even now is less per barrel of crude oil than it was when we last went to almost 3 dollars a gallon.  then consider that you pay at least 5 dollars for a quart of oil...bearing grease, diesel fuel etc etc. The bottom line is that the oil companies know that they can charge whatever they want and society will have to pay it.. Unless the government steps in to stop the oil companies this will continue.. It is not just the pain at the gas pump, groceries all cost more , they have to pass on some of the expense...  But if we all must share the burden of higher fuel prices , then maybe we could all share in the billions in profit still seen by the oil companies...
