Your suggestion has the merit of concise simplicity and I concur.

I agree.
Parents can still tell their children to behave or they will not get presents.

My daughter who is nine and has some pretty good advice sometimes, said to me before Christmas. Santa Clause was the worse lie parents ever made up. She said why would people do such a cruel thing, to lie to children about someone that brings them presents. lol

I agree with Tantricia, wait until the child comes to you with doubts/questions.  I too will explain the historical reference of Sait Nicholas, as was presented to me at our church service this past December.

Wow, 13, that's definitely awhile to wait. I figured out that none of that existed around 5-6 but didn't want to tell my parents because it seemed to mean so much to them.
