I have taken Spanish in  school an I'm pretty fluent.  I would like to learn Chinese and German.  I think that learning a new language is interesting and challenging.  I'm afraid that I have a compulsion to learn new things.  I think that Spanish is important to learn because of our increasing Hispanic population, I find Chinese interesting because it is so different from English and I would like to learn German because I find that many of its words are similar to English and I believe that it could help with my vocabulary strength, in much the same way that Latin does.  The bottom line is that I have too much time on my hands, lol

Since I spent five weeks in Greece this summer.  I would want to learn to speak Greek more fluently followed by Spanish and French.  In Europe, French is the universal language in my community, many of my neighbors are mostly from Columbia, so it would make sense that I know these three languages.  Abroad, knowing more than one language is the norm.

I believe that we should all learn Chinese, a while back I would have added Spanish to it but it seems as though most of the spanish speaking people have left my area.  :dontknow: Chinese children begin learning English at the age of three. ???

For Starter I would say just Spanish and English. Lots of jobs are available for your when you are multi-language.

When I was in Poland for 2 years, I taught English. I had to help the students distinguish between British English and American English. When you teach a language, you learn as well. There are sometimes five different words that bring across the same meaning.
I think it is important to know 4 languages.
Chinese and Japanese are challenging because of their script......you almost have to be an artist.
