how much money do you spend on christmas presents foe the peolpe you buy for.  my family this year wants to put a 25.00 limit on each present we buy i don't think it should be about how much we spend it is the thought you put into each present

our family is (was) very large, we have spread out so we don't buy presents for everyone any longer.  BUT when we used to all get together we would draw names ... that simplified things.  everyone rec'd something it was heartfelt, etc.  of course all the nieces and nephews rec'd gifts ... i'm talking about the adults.

I usually try to keep the cost down to around 200.00 total.  Last year I made enough online sites that added to a good Christmas.  Many nice presents for all.  Barely any out of pocket expense.  This year, still will be a good one.  Hoping everyone will get to use what they are going to get from me.  IF not still have next year.

We always set a budget and stick to it with 5 kids and 6 grandkids that is the best we can do.

I agree totally. We have very little money, so $25 is way too much. If you have the time, and I know this sounds corny, but make your presents. You can bake cookies or make fudge or brownies and decorate the outside to look very nice and festive.  :fish:

yeah, yeah, it's not about the gifts...BUT
you really can't help wanting to give at christmas!

between family and friends, my fiance
and i usually spend about $300 altogether.
that's including any supplies i buy for handmade
presents too. we have about 10 people to buy for,
so that rounds out to $20 - $40 per person.

we don't do this all at once, though.
we try to spread it out over a few months before
christmas
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

i buy for only those that are really a requirement, mom ,kids and grandkids.  my brother, sister n law, and neices and nephew get a care package with cake and candy.  it's the best that i can do.  if i were rich, i'd be the best santa around ;D

Thats a tough question. Sometimes I barely buy presents at all. I mean, I want to get everyone something, but I just cant afford it. Sometimes I just give everyone a dollar store gift and be done with it. Don't get me wrong, I get the highest quality stuff I can from there, but in the end we do need money for other things. I would say keep it under 20 a person if you want to go all out, any more and it will most likely be a strain.

There is still a few kids here and there in my family in which we do give a dedicated gift, but for the most part for the family members that do participate we felt doing a White Elephant gift exchange was the easiest and most cost efficient due to the expansive size of my family. As to dollar amount we use to cap. this, but no longer.
