Are you familiar with the saying, "Behind every great man is a woman?"

Do you think this can be seen as offensive? Why or why not?

If you stop and think about it, it is offensive, both to men and women.  It insults women by implying that a woman's purpose is to support a man.  It insults men by implying that a man without a woman's support is unlikely to be great. 

At least, I can see it that way.  I can also see it as a sort of backhand compliment, but it wouldn't be the type of compliment I'd want.

Doesn't really make sense to me in this age and time. Why? Well behind every great man, there could be a woman, OR a man, or a child(son or daughter). I think the term needs to be expanded a little, because things have changed!
