How do you pick colors for your house/apartment?

I like color so first I do research on what colors mean but then I start looking at furnutre pieces for rooms that go together.  If I like a matching set then generally I paint the room whatever color would look nice against those pieces.  I don’t go with a dark color on my walls as much as I go for a duller hue like red I would use a dull more like maroon color rather than a loud red or dark shade.

 I do alot of re-decorating in my place and usually prefer to use colors found in nature, and decorate with things found in nature because it's what is most relaxing for me.
