OH. MY. GOD.
« on: September 19, 2011, 06:57:00 am »
My child whines about everything under the sun.  It seems like that's all he does all day long.  I don't discipline him for it because he does what he is told, he just whines and cries during the whole process it's so annoying.  SHOULD I discipline him for whining or just continue to ignore him like I don't even notice the whining.  He is 3.

Haha.....I started whining back also and when he heard how dumb he sounded he quit. He is 4 now and only whines every once in awhile, but I have a 2 year old who will probably start the whining shortly. Probably when I give her stuff to do....lol

that is so typical of a 2 and 3 year old....he'll stop when he matures a little...they get so upset about the simplest of things :dontknow:

I have a four year old that still whines a lot. I've noticed when you ignore it, they stop a lot faster. He does it for attention. LOL!

I tell my son when he does that, Sorry, I don't understand you when you are whining.. and ignor it. When he sees that he isnt getting the reaction that he wants he quits.. And its totally normal for a three year old..

I have 3 grandsons and they all have gone through this whiny stage the best advice is just ignore it as it will more than likely go away sometimes I tell my gradson I can not understand him or tell him he has to use real words that I can understand no whiney ones.  That helps

Well he is only 3 but if you do not start putting your foot down now then he will continue to do it and know he can walk all over you and whine to get his way! Put him in time out! 1 minute for every year they are old. so your 3 year old would get 3 minutes. It works. Do not pay any attention to them when they are in time out. I always told my kids if you get up you have to sit there longer.

Count yourself ahead of the game that he does what he is told at 3 years old =D I think ignoring the whining is the best tactic for now.
