i think putting dogs in a kennel all day is cruel & stupid. what do u think?

It depends on what you mean-a kennel.  If you mean a dog crate, it depends.  If it is a puppy that is being crate trained, then no.  They need to stay in the crate unless they are being closely monitored so that they are properly housebroken.  Even then, they should be let out every few hours.  If it is a larger dog in a crate for many hours a day, I don't think that is a good situation, unless it is a temporary fix to keep the dog from injuring itself.  Some dogs will literally eat walls and doors, etc when left alone.  Of course a crate is still not a permanent fix for this.
