Start right now reading good things to your children and play GOOD music for them. You can't start too early and keep it up until they make you stop. :)

I'm a first time mother and my son is only 6 months and I'd love advice from other parents so I can have a broader perspective of the Parenting Life.
I am a first time mom too and my best advice Is just take It day by day. I was told by a nurse In the NICU that If you start to get frustrated to just walk away. I've done that a few times actually. I'm the mom of a preemie so It's a little different for me than other mom's. Treasure every moment. My daughter turns 2 on October 11th. Time flies so take the time to spend as much time with your little one while he or she Is little.

You are the parent, not the other way around. Make sure that role never gets switched or you are pressured to "give in" at any time. Love them, but be firm and set the ground rules. A child really does want and need discipline in their life. Make the punishment fit the crime. I always told my son that if he told the truth, he would not get punished. However, if I found out he lied to me, the punishment would be severe. This taught him the value of truth along with the attributes that follow it. It also taught him the consequences of wrong. After awhile he realized the truth garnered rewards than just telling the truth.

Love them unconditionally, but be the authority and stalwart unmovable force they can rely on all the time. You can never start to early to instill values, morales, and manners into your children. You can tell if a child has been brought up properly or not.

Enjoy every second that you can because time really does fly! I also completely agree with the "this to shall pass". During the 2s and 3s especially you will feel like you will never have your sweet child back again. Set ground rules, be firm and be prepared to deal with embarrassment from tantrums in public places. When they out grow it, pat yourself on the back. Patience is a virtue is something that I have often had to repeat to myself lately but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I know that we will come out of it fine in the end.

Enjoy every second and do it the way you want to and feel is right.  There is no right way to be a parent so just do what you think is right.

Patients you will get frustrated and feel like you can't do anything but as your baby gets older you learn new things also.  All i can say is PATIENTS i was never around any babies before i had my daughter and everything came so naturally. It gets easier as they get older because they can tell you things but when they become teenagers its a different story lol. Anyways everything will come naturally. You'll do just fine :) Enjoy your 1st child i know i have and she is a senior this year  :crybaby2:

Hug that baby and let him or her know you love them.  And when they're older, keep talking and then listen.

Do not be afraid to disciplpine your children.
And I apologize If I've already said this, but it seems like a great many of these topics tend to repeat themselves.
But yeah, discipline your children so they odn't turn out like hte people run this country or the youths who make the news for kicking a puppy into the freeway.

Figure out what caused that one and don't do it again if you don't know how to deal with the outcome.
