When they are yours, you are responsible all the time.  When they are not yours, you know that they will go home and it is easier to be patient.  Also, you want yours to behave better.

Exactly! So it shows that as a parent you also need to schedule time away from the little Darlings.

It reminds me of Steve Wilkos/Maury etc. shows, ''I  AM 15 AND I WANNA BABY'' etc..
they think they can handle it. but its SO not true.
I have wanted NOTHING but to be a mom. I cravvvedddd to feel pregnant.
but, my brain was smarter than my heart, i knew i couldnt afford it, i knew i couldnt raise a child without a father,  etc..
so when i got with my now husband, i knew it was the one, i knew i wanted a family . I never thought i could get pregnant, i didnt think i deserved it. but when i found out i was i was so happy.
i have the most beautiful 7 month old baby girl ever.
but having a child was SO MUCH HARDER than I expected, i mean, i knew what was coming, but i didnt KNOW...lol
I wouldnt change it for the world though, her smile keeps me happy :)

Perhaps it is because you work with them so closely, give them unconditional love, and have expectations that excede their capabilities.  This can happen with your spose, friends, significant others, co-workers and parents.  Instead of thinking about how to deal with them you should think about how you can have more patience dealing with everything.  Look at the good that these kids do and strive for constant and never-ending improvement for both you and the kids.
