I applaud the move to add the sub-catagory of D&D to the off topics board, in an effort to give those who were offended by some of the more heated debates the choice of whether to be subjected to them or not.

May I please make the suggestion that you also add a sub-catagory title some thing to the effect of "Trivial Bull *bleep*" board, for the more "intellectually discerning members here?

The problem with creating yet another sub-forum for "trivial" posts is that "trivial" posts are exactly what we're trying to discourage.  We could make posts in the "trivial" sub-forum not count for your 30/month, but then I think few people would bother to post in there.  I'm open to ideas but getting people to post in the appropriate forum is like trying to stop the tide coming in with a teaspoon.

Perhaps a sticky post at the top explaining what exactly this part of the forum is for? With examples? Maybe if it read "READ THIS OR YOU MIGHT BE BANNED!". It probably wouldn't stop it fully, but I imagine it would help.

I'd imagine its difficult to even keep up with all of the topics and posted created on this forum, let alone regulate it. Creating new sub-forums will do nothing but make it even more difficult to keep up with the forum. I suppose the best thing we can do is all pitch in by creating more appropriate topics. I've already started too and would like others to help me as well. Even though a lot of trivial topics get started, it shouldn't get in the way of starting topics to spawn actual debate.

I will keep an eye on the situation.  You can always express your dissatisfaction with a particular topic by rating it "1 star".  This has the added benefit of NOT bumping the thread.
