The main definition of "histrionic" is an act as of being an actor: i.e. acting an emotion like overreaction. So what you are saying is the persons reaction to your dog is not genuine, and they are just acting like they are afraid. Acting an overreaction emotion. So not only do you have no compassion for the persons fear, but you are also accusing them of being "false" in their overreaction? Hmmmm
Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.
If someone is frightened of an off-leash dog, that is valid fear.
If someone sees an on leash dog, and immediately starts screaming at the top of their lungs every time they see a dog on a leash, that is just seeking attention.
It depends on the dog and how mean it looks, and if it's growling at them, etc., and if you let your dog walk on a very long leash. I've seen people walk their dogs on a leash long enough for the dog to come right up to a stranger.
I think
you are exaggerating or overreacting in your post. I've never seen or heard anyone scream at the top of their lungs at a leashed dog. In fact, I believe you are just seeking attention when you posted your "histrionic" post. Nobody poked fun at anybody else in this thread because of their fear of dogs, except you. Also, your claims of being bit and claiming to have scars from such seems unlikely, because then you would naturally know why some people are fearful of dogs. People have all sorts of fears or phobias. No, they are not faking it.
