I know it helps but I never apply for that, I just apply medicaid for delivery my son. that time, It spent more than one month, my son was greet the world, I didn't get the answer, any program which help people is lir circus, you have to wait and repeat preparing papers. keep calling them and ask. it was a hard time for us that time, I suggest my husband we apply the food stamps at the same time, my husband say no, cos so complicated. he prefer borrow money from his friend. now our life is a little better.

We recieved SNAP for about a year, then in December, right before Christmas, they cut them off. Even though we are making the same that we did a year ago, they told us we are over income. So either we got them for a year when we shouldn't have, or they are screwing up now.  :BangHead:
Thank goodness my fiance and I have have the help from both sides of our families when we need it. I always wait till the very last second to ask for help though, because they have all done so much for us already.

Oh how I agree about the system not being user friendly!!!!!    I have never gotten food stamps but a couple of years before my mom passed away I tried to qualify her for food stamps.  She was on disability due to cancer and most of her money was going towards her meds per month.  After all the "paperwork" was completed she quailified for $8 dollars a month food stamps!   I actually told them what they could do with the $8 and moved her in with me!

No I am not on food stamps.  I did think about applying for them when my fiancee was laid off.  It was really tough for us then.

I was on food stamps before and it was very helpful at the time. Hopefully I will never have to deal it again any time soon... the system makes you jump thru hoops just to receive them

yes i agree. they have cut mine down twice now. i have never had food stamps for just myself ever and they are making it hard for me. my parents applied when i was born but they told my dad that he was young enough to get a 2nd job so they only gave us 10$ in food stamps. what cheap a$$es! so now im on my own and really need the help and they keep cutting me. dude, dont cut me down i should get as much as u can give me coz i'm not abusing it and this is the only time i have applied. cut the ones that have been on it for years and they dont work. at least i work when i can find a job.

Well I'm on maternity leave and JUST turned in my application yesterday and am praying they give us one because I only have like $500 saved up and that's enough money to cover one months worth of my debt bills --- I never miss a payment but may have to to buy food!

I think that food stamps can help you at some point but I believe that the whole system could be alot different, so that people can get them and not have to jump thru hoops.  And they also need  to make it more standard.  I would call to see if yo on u can change your appointment.  I have not had to go on food stamps.  but I know of families that have and have helped with paperwork.  It is a nighmare doing.  They dont give you much but  hevery little bit helps.

Feel blessed that you can get them.  I have been out of work & on unemployment & my husband is disabled & on social security but they say we "make too much money" to draw anything.
Have a wonderful day!

I've been on them for a while.  The paperwork is a hassle.  One time I had to visit the office six times because they changed their procedure before changing the instructions.  Another time I had part-time work that required a 32 mile round trip for a short three-hour visit, four days a week, at low wages, when gas was $4 per gallon and they didn't consider that as part of my expenses.  It's very helpful, but quite a hassle.  They don't seem to realize we can't be in two places at once or that the time we spend jumping through hoops is that much less we have to spend on generating an income so we wouldn't need them. :dontknow:

yes, food stamps do help you when in need, but they sure cut your food stamps fast. and times are hard  and food prices keep  going up. no matter what  you do or think .they are going to do what they want.

I probably will be asking for assistance some time this year.  Seems to be the way things go these days.
