Step Fathers definitely count. Sometimes children can be inconsiderate. Sometimes they just have so much going on trying to make their own way that they don't take the time for the family things that make lasting bonds. We love them anyway and it tends to change a bit as they get older and discover that these things are important.

If you treated those children like your own, and you raised them as if you were their biological father, then damn straight step-fathers count! If they are too selfish to realize that, then that is their problem, not yours. You should feel proud of yourself!

I believe they should count as long as you have a good one.It is so hard to find good step parents.I say this because I had 3 bad stepmothers and 4 bad stepfathers.I wish I was one of the lucky ones who had the opportunity to say they had a good stepparent.Congratulations and keep up the good work. It's ones like you that I salute.

so i read this just now and broke down crying..i lost my step dad on june 4, 2010. The only real man i could ever just call "dad". I felt as if there was no "step" in his ways of raising me into a young lady. No one should take advantage of any parent or someone who helps them learn life. So, I know I am not your child, but Id love to wish you a Happy Late Father's day TIMES FIVE...plus one from my heart.

I feel so bad!!! Ofcourse they count!! I do not have a step father but I know if I did have one and he was good to me, then I would certainly call him on Father Day!

Of course they do!  My spouse and I BOTH have step children in our own marriage, and also from prior marriages.

We LOVE THEM ALL!

Absolutely!!! My step father was a great dad. He even adopted me when I was @ 10.  He passed away and I miss him dearly. Your kids probably didn't mean anything bad by not calling you. But step dads definitely count!!

It does not matter if it's step or not as long as you where the father figure in their lives, youare their father.  Is this the first time this has ever happened or its a trend? as far as i am concerned every man old enough to father a child responsibly is a father. Happy belated father's day!!!

Hey I am so sorry to hear that your children did not count you. But don't worry they will realise their mistake soon. I hope you get tons of love from your children. Step-fathers Definitely count!!!

Yes they do count.  As long as you were a good father to them and help raise them then of course they do.

Stepfathers absolutely count!!! Sometimes kids can just be ungrateful unthinking lil snots...and I call them kids no matter how old they are. I know it is heartbreaking that you didn't hear anything from them but you have to know that you helped raise them and you matter alot even if they don't know how to express it.
