Am I Setting My Child Up for Failure?

So if I take my son to an event that's for him and he doesn't want to stay is it okay for my to say okay and take him home.  I mean, if it's for him and he's not enjoying himself, then why stay just to struggle to make him be quiet.  I don't want this to come back and bite me in the butt when I want him to participate in sports.  I think it also depends on the situation.  My son is going to be 3 this summer, and the event that comes to mind is an event that I mistakenly thought was for his age group.  When we got there it was clear that it wasn't, so I can understand why he wouldn't want to stay.

2 almost 3 is too young to participate in organized sports etc.  In a couple more years, give him the opportunity to participate in activities that he wants to and then make him stay through the event, season, whatever.  Then if he doesn't like it, he can change.

If he isn't ready, don't push him. My son started the Spelling Bee last year and then dropped out....This year he joined again and promised himself he would go till the end......HE WON FIRST PLACE !!! YEAAYYY !
