What to do when a family member dies?
« on: April 01, 2011, 07:16:48 am »
:-[  My Auntie died a week ago and she will be missed.  She was a person that if you had a problem, you could talk to her about anything. When I was dating my spouse 27yrs ago I met his auntie.  From that day she became my auntie and a friend to me.   I have been very sad since her death.  I know she would like for me to not be upset.  I called her auntie, but she was like the mother-in-law I never had.(because my spouse mother died in 1978)
I know I have to one day at a time, but it is so hard.  :-[ :-[

My sister died 30 years ago and I still miss her. When someone you know dies, you grieve and I try to remember the good times we had together...

It always helps to remember reasons she made you smile; it makes you feel less sad for a short time.  I know how it feels to lose a family member. My youngest sister (then 6) died nearly 8 years ago.  It still hurts sometimes, but it will get better as time passes. My condolences.

Obviously I feel sad about the immediate loss of any loved one who passes away; however, I realize they're in a better place and I don't feel so bad.  After my favorite uncle died, I started "talking" to him at night (prayers).  I usually try to say a hello and I miss you to all of my family and/or friends who have "crossed over".

My father died a year ago. He was a very honourable and God-respecting man. I loved him and agreed with a lot of what he taught me. So I've decided to pursue what made him so great: God. And man, have I learned a lot.

I am sorry for your loss.  My grandmother died in June.  My grandfather died in January.  I miss them everyday.

I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. You need to grieve for awhile, and then there will come a time to put away most of the memoribilia and mementos into a box in the closet. Then, perhaps you would want to keep a photo in your wallet, OR just one photo on your wall. You might even make a memory book of photos and all the good times you shared. Pull it out and look at it, when you start feeling sad. May God Bless you and comfort you in your sorrow.
