Does your vote really count?
« on: March 29, 2011, 07:20:12 pm »
Do you vote and do you feel it really makes a difference? Almost every month there is some scandal paired with a politician. Are these people really interested in Democracy or do they strive to only fulfill a self serving agenda?

if everyone thinks that way then yes it does because you could be the only person that ends up voting (not likely, but you know what i mean)

It does to me.  If I don't vote, I don't have the right to complain!
Have a wonderful day!

It's hard to see it sometime but I believe it does. I also think that remember the fact that others before me have shed their blood for that right of mine.

Yes, I do.  I agree that it is sometimes difficult to see how it does, but what if no one voted?

Probably in some small, local elections your single vote does count, BUTTTT NOT in the National Elections. It has been shown over and over again how many votes are not counted, miscounted, the voting machines were pre programmed, or mis programmed, the black panthers intimidated white people at the voting precincts, etc. CORRUPTION, CORRUPTION, CORRUPTION!! :crybaby2: :sad1: :BangHead:

my vote gives me the right to complain, lol, and you never know, maybe one day it will be down to just that one vote, and it would be awesome if it were mine!  ;D

It may not seem like your vote counts in national elections with most states being very Democrat or Republican, but this last presidential election should change that thinking. There were many Republican and swing states that went Democrat in contrast to their recent patterns of voting. Or think about the Florida voting scandal. With close races, every vote matters. And like others have said, if you don't vote and participate in the democratic process, you have no right to complain over the direction of the country.

I vote and, yes, I think it does count.  If everyone who could vote would vote, things might be different right now.  Think about what would have happened if Al Gore had won the Presidency in 2000.  Would we have invaded Iraq?  What would our economy be like?  One can only wonder.

I voted in the Obama election and regretted it. They hyped him up sooooooo much and made McCain look so bad that it was impossible for Obama not to win. Regardless of who we vote for, they're going to put into office whoever they want. There's a lot of stuff going on in the government that most people aren't even aware of, corruption doesn't even begin to explain it. BTW won't be voting anymore!
