WhiteSmokeWriter blocke?!
« on: December 15, 2010, 05:18:38 pm »
Hi,

I started to install White Smoke Writer but I got a warning from my anti-virus that there are some files in it that could be harmful for my computer and automatically blocked it.

I'm wondering if any of the other users have received a similar warning? I try to listen to my anti-virus  :)
but did you just ignored it and went on installing it anyway?

We're always at risk for possible harmful files on the internet. What kind of anti-virus are you running?

The only thing I don't like about it is that it changed my searching options from Google to bing and added additional desktop icons. Overall, the program functions fine and my computer's fully equiped.

The program isn't harmful at all.  I did this one also and my virus protection did the same thing so I asked my provider if it was a problem and it was ok to allow it.  If you want to do the offer its ok.  When installing it instead of doing the recommended install click on the advanced so you can uncheck the box that makes it your homepage and if you don't want it to change to google for your search engine.  Hope this helps!!   :cat:

You can change it back to bing just by clicking on the down arrow and selecting google as your search engine if you want
