Religion is stupid like that. To be honest I think people that are NOT religious are much nicer then people that are. For instance people that hate black because of the story of Cain. And the people that hate gays because the fiction book of the bible tells them it is wrong. I am married to a black man and I have gay friends. I don't look down on them as these hollyrolling bible thumpers do!

The thing that makes me ill about the WBC is that they spew their hate legally.  They talk with police in the area and make sure that they stay the legal distance away and etc...

As much as it makes me sick, and as much as I agree that if there is a hell, the WBC will have their own circle dedicated to them alone, I can see the ACLU stepping in and challenging this new law, and I honestly can't say that I believe wholly that they are in the wrong legally.  It is morally abhorrent that the WBC want to picket, but the First Amendment doesn't just protect the ones we agree with.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Check out Phelps on the Southern Poverty Law Center site... Morris Dees is my hero.

I get what you're saying and agree wholeheartedly with you. But just to play devils advocate. Could AZ enact a law that would supercede government law as long as AZ supreme court didn't find it unconstitutional along the lines with the AZ constitution? Since the 10th amendment allows for a state to retain rights, could they (the state) use the 10th as their defense of the law they enacted and in fact use nullification (which Thomas Jefferson much supported) to make the laws of AZ supercede that of the Federal Government?

I find it hard to see how a state's law could supercede the Federal Government given the Supremacy Clause in the Constitution, not to mention the wording of the 10th Amendment.  In this case, this is not a situation that has not been delegated at the federal level because of the First Amendment.  If they try to enact and use nullification in this case, it would create a slippery slope where religion is concerned, since the principle in question will be the First Amendment.  The law will most likely remain intact long enough for the little girl's funeral, but will most likely be struck down at the federal level because of this.

Well Christianity teaches no hate at all, so the people that hate and use religion as a front for it are misrepresenting Christians as a whole. Christianity teaches us to love any and all sinners, believers, and nonbelievers.
