Does anyone know how long you have to be at a job to collect unemployment?

I am just curious, I need to know what grounds you can get fired on to collect unemployment?

I believe you can collect after 6 months or after probation... I dont know if you can collect if you get fired, I was informed that you need to be laid off to collect

It varies from state to state but we have to work for a quarter of the year in our state.

I believe in the state of california it  is 6 months before you can collect your unemployment

I believe you have to be on your job for at least six months. However it might change depending on what State you live in. Does anyone knows if your place of residence makes a difference.
