Ladies' night
« on: July 26, 2011, 11:30:21 am »
Ladies' night is a promotional event used by bars and nightclubs that let women pay less than males. Do you think this is unfair? Do you think ladies' night should be abolished?

When on a date, should the man pay for the lady's meal?

No, I dont think its unfair.  Its a good way to drum up more business.  One of clubs I used to go to had that, but also had sports nights for fans of different teams.  Wear Lakers gear and drinks were half-off, Dallas Cowboys night was the same way.

Depends on who's doing the asking.  Ive paid for a few dinners, went dutch and sometimes he picked up the tab.

"Ladies Night" at a bar or nightclub is not different from senior discounts, student discounts, discounts for people supporting certain sports teams, or military discounts at other places.  If you abolish one; you'd have to abolish them all.

The reason there is a Ladies Night, and not any Men Nights, is because it increases the number of men that attend on those nights (to pick up women).  It wouldn't work the other way around; generally women aren't going to a bar or nightclub specifically to pick up men (they are more likely going there for a night of fun with friends).  The discount on Ladies Night encourages groups of women to come to that business, which would encourage men to follow.   ::)

As for the date question, I think they should split the check the first time.  Any subsequent dates, they should take turns paying, or continue splitting the check.

Not bragging, but when I went to bars I never paid for any of my drinks, period. I also never went home with any man from a bar and never took men's phone numbers or gave my own out either. I added that just in case someone thinks they 'figured out' why I never paid... ;) If it makes the bar money and the guys in the bar that night get a better 'selection' out of it, who cares?

As far as the date question? If the man does the asking, he pays, if the woman asks, she pays. Fair is fair.

lol I completely agree with you Jordan. Womens night is there to encourage more women to go out to the club. Just by doing that the place will usually be packed. It does work both ways though. When I use to go they would have 25c long necks. Though women can drink beer that is geared more for the men to get them to spend more. Hence drink more. If you dont have a ride home it also opens up business for the cabs. It is a win win situation for the both businesses.

On the dating like I said Jordan nailed it. Only exception is when the date is proposed they agree to go dutch.

I think most men would agree that anything to get more ladies into the bars is a good thing.
