I think having a cell phone while traveling is a necessity. Especially since you can't find pay phones anymore. And it is even a good thing for teens to have while away from home, but it is a greatly misused item in today's life. I have been run into far too many times to count by people walking and texting and not paying attention.

DO YOU FEEL THAT THEY ARE A GOOD THING OR A BAD THING

me i think they are good for emergency but not if your just driving and texting or talking because i have noticed that when people or driving they need to pay attention.   i've seen to many wrecks because people or on the phone or textingon to what they are doing

I always said if anyone wanted to talk to me they could wait till I got home.  But I will be traveling alot now and got a cell phone last month.  Just needed it in case had trouble on road and also signed up for Triple AAA road service.  Wanted to make sure I could get help when out and about by myself.

I see a lot of people who can't handle talking and driving at the same time-It's a shame that for the morons who can't deal with walking and chewing gum at the same time, the rest of us are punished.  The only way to alleviate this poblem, though, is to take it away from everyone.  The problem I have is that the hands free stuff is still allowed-To me, those hands free things are difficult to deal with!  I do better with just the dang phone!!

I love my cellphone, lets me keep in touch with family and friends. I dont text or talk when I am driving. It would be great if more people didnt talk or text when they are driving.

I do use my cell phone to talk everyday. I need my cell phone everyday because I use it to talk to people . I need my ceell phone because a cell phone is really important. What I don't like about having a cell phone is that I have to pay $45 bucks a month for unlimited use. I rather buy unlimited minutes and text messages than to have limited minutes on my phone. I really do enjoy talking on the phone.

I feel that they are very important. I am married and have a 1 year old child, and I work 7 days on and 7 days off at my job, so without a cell phone I would not be able to communicate with my wife and daughter as much as I am able to now!
I do have to say though there are people who are rude and overuse the cell phone, but that is all within them.

My 7 year old told me yesterday she needs a cell phone.  I laughed at her and told her to keep dreaming.
Hahahaha... she is so cute, i wonder who will she call!!!!

Cell phones are great! But, there should be stricter laws regarding them, especially when it comes to driving.

I agree with OP because cell phones are very useful for communication purposes. But, like everything else, there is a limit everything just as there is a time and place. Texting behavior has become a sort addictive behavior and can be very dangerous and hazardous while driving. If it's that important.. PULL OVER!
Yes I think your point is essential. Texting is fine but very harmful in driving. I always pull over even when I needed to talk on the cell phone. Safe driving behavior is responsible for both driver and other people on the road.

there is always a good and bad side to everything.  Great to communicate with everyone, emergencies etc, bad because anyone can get ahold of you...  :sad1:

Lately I have been asking myself the same question about cell phones. They are good to have with you at all times. But, lately I think they are being used too loosely.

Some things I just do not need to hear in the Publix line or in the bank line!!! Some conversation you just need to have alone!!! ::) ::) ::)

There are no problems with the cell phones, its the users who have gotten into the bad habits when using the phone.  Why do cell users think everyone around them wants to hear their conversation.  Its just plain rude and irritating.  The stupidest ones are those who drive with the cell phone glued to their ear.  Are they really that stupid or just too lazy to buy an ear plug.

I find that most people can't drive without the phone, but those talking (to include the ear plug) can't do two things at one time, but yet they will cause an accident because they just refuse to stop their car.
