how do you get a kid to behave in church?

i have twins my friendss... they are still babies, but when they'll be able to walk and go to church...    i can imagine myself trying to make them behave hahahah

Patience is the key to success with all things ! Take him to the kiddie area and let him play he is three and at that age sitting still is hard. Rejoice that he is in the chruch and have nice chruch lesson without frustration of trying to make him sit still. We have elders of the chruch that love to play with the little ones during services . They have alot to offer and I am sure your little one will enjoy them too. If your chruch doesnt have this already speak up I am sure your not the only one that would benefit from this. I agree with the others that suggest that you recommend a "Children's Church" at your church. I'm a part of my church's Children Ministries program and I think that it really helps children gradually understand how to behave in church. A 3 years old child isn't going to sit quietly for long periods of time so having a program that allows them to participate in songs that require movement, using felt boards or finger-puppets to tell bible stories, and other kid friendly activities can use your child energy positively.

my son isn't the most well behaved child but while we are in church i bring a pencil and paper for him to scribble on or something quite to keep him busy

This is a good question, We allow our two girls to bring one small quiet toy each but even that sometime causes fights.

 our church has a four year old sunday school that has been helping because it seperates them they are 3 and 4

I thought the scare tactic always worked espically if the kids wanna show out in front of everybody but that doesnt work with EVERY kid

although I don't go to church, even witness kids at my congregation get irritable, they usually give them coloring books and colorful literature to look at and play around with, which is of course WT literature. So maybe bringing some umm worldly literature into your church for will help your kid stay still

    I would tell my kid that there is a bug on the floor and if he moves or talks the bug will get him lol

i have 5 kids ages 17 down to 3 , i dont have an answer except the church nursery for the little one , hes fixin to move up to the pre k class , i dont go to a large church either we only maybe have 80 ppl . i still have issues with my 9 and 13 yr olds they feel they dont have to worship like they love jesus and i pray for them everyday ..

Definitely bring something for the child to do. My son is also 3 and we let him bring a couple of his matchbox cars. He quietly plays with him on the seat. I like the coloring book idea other people have too. I might try that one also.
