Living with a Ocd
« on: July 01, 2010, 10:55:01 am »
I live with a mild Ocd..I cannot start things leave and leave them unfinished I have ways I clean and do things if something disturbs them I feel really anxious and lost.I was on medicine for my teenage years but it made me lethargic and well nuttier I think I had spouts of anger out of no where..I have been living for years with out meds and feel better I can control some of my impulses..It helps to have a Ocd in some aspects but in others eek..LOL like I play a lot of online games and it sends me into a freak out if I do not keep up on them..Same here if I start something like posts or anything I will not walk away till it is done..It has been hard to not let my kids see me when I have a Ocd moment..I try to always have my moments alone..I use to organize my kids toys in wacky ways like tea sets set up and my sons castles all together with guys in areas..I start to see my wacky ways surfacing and try to stop myself breathe and train my self to think of it logically and not like its the end if its not right..Each day gets easier and I do not beat myself up when I fall..I just thought I would share this and maybe find another OCD sufferer here..Thanks

My husband and I both have this. I check the door locks and wash my hands entirely too much. I also get tunnel vision on projects (such as cleaning and can't stop). I try to channel it towards things that are helpful at least. By the way have you ever seen the movie "As Good As It Gets"?  Really great movie!

Wow Cuppycake..I totally understand I check my doors a lot wake up I wake up in middle of night to check again..And the tunnel vision I get that my kids will tell me that they told me something while I was into one of my compulsions and I never heard them lol..Yeah I really have it more under control then I ever did on the medicines..I would rather deal with the quirks then craziness lol..I guess if you look at it in we are very determined people lol ask us to do it and by god it will get done no way will we leave it unfinished lol..OOO got chills saying unfinished lmao

That is soo very true! Once we set our minds on something we can't stop until it is done and done right lol! I find it hard to complete art projects to my satisfaction though lol !
