Wanted: advice on the best cell & wireless phones to use...
« on: February 22, 2010, 05:42:13 pm »
My cell phone contract expires soon and I was wanting to maybe get a new phone with on-line access and also new service. (I currently have T-Mobile service with a Motorola RZR cell.)   I also need to get a wireless phone (with voicemail) for business use... (to replace an outdated wall phone).   Any recommendations for any of these?  I have been trying to do research on-line for this and I just seem to keep getting more lost....  What type/models do you use and how well do you like it, what makes it a favorite, etc. All advice helpful!!  Thanks!!

I've used Sprint for my cell phone service since I first got a cell phone, and I've had no issues except for when I still lived at my mum's house and didn't get service inside the house - total fluke. Excellent service, awesome prices, as long as you pay your bill on time you're set.

I just upgraded to a Blackberry Curve, and I adore it. Great blend of internet access and actual use of a phone.

As for replacing a wall phone with a wireless, I haven't any real recommendations, as my boyfriend set up our VOIP service and 'my' home number [there's several extensions within our home system] is actually a retro-styled corded phone.

I suggest Boost if your going prepaid and Sprint or Verizon if you going for a bill phone. Verizon is kinda high tho.

when I had a blackberry, I thought it was awesome, and I echo that it's probably the least problematic phone, although I would love to give the Google Android a shot if I was in that kind of financial position.  Coverage and best carrier is tough...depends where you are versus how much you travel, etc.  I would suggest getting an all in one package rather than a la carte services, so you never have to worry about excess usage charges.  I love Skype as well if you're looking for the VOIP thing.

I have an IPhone.  I am really happy with it but there are some quirks and bugs.  However, when it is all said and done, I am satisfied.  But service is expensive.  My bill is about $85 a month.  It is not all AT&T's fault because some of that is taxes -- maybe $10 or so.    I feel comfortable recommending an IPhone but I would also look around.  You might be able to get similar and maybe better at a better price.  I think that you are doing good by doing research in advance.  Ask around and get suggestions and recommendations.  Good Luck.

Oh, I tell you my best advice, be very careful, what you are signing up for, hidden charges, surcharges, etc. etc. it all adds up, I cannot say who we went through, cuz on forum, but be careful, ask friends, what they are actually paying.

I don't know what to tell you to get, but I can tell you that I have not been pleased wth Credo for my cell phone or Verizon for my home phone. Both companies have charged me several times wheun they should not have, and it has been a royal pain correctig these mistakes.
