I'm not going to 'argue' with queen or queen's reply. It's open to interpretation, as is most every single thing in the Bible and Christianity.

Oh, it is certainly not my opinion what I said.  It is just some camps of Christianity that label every sex act outside of marriage and procreation as adultery.

But yes I wonder why God being God and all allows bad things to happen from people being killed to people born with a mental illness, From rape to people insulting one another.
BECAUSE THERE IS NO GOD!

Something horrible has happened to me.  The bible didn't "get me through it".  The support of people who love me gets me through it...on a daily basis.  Healing doesn't happen over night...it is a continuing process.  I still deal with the bad stuff on a daily basis...its called post traumatic stress disorder.  I believe those who claim to be completely healed are only hiding from themselves.

The bible is a book written and translated by men...fallible men.  The Tanakh is open to interpretation, though, since it is written in the old Hebrew without vowels.  Anyone who can find faith in their religion...more power to them.  My religion, though, had nothing to do with the "bad stuff".

In all honesty, though, I find there is much hypocrisy in the King James translation of the bible.  If I had been a Christian and had relied on my faith to "get me through it", I would have felt betrayed.
When I read the other people's responses, I feel great fear, dread, impending doom & hopelessness for the human race. I listen to my gut feelings instead of blindly trust in a book or a religion. When I read what you wrote, I didn't feel that fear. (Thank you) Your right The king james version of the bible, is corrupt. I'm between religions right now, but I'm veering toward the one that stated " HARM NONE." from a recovering X-catholic

So are you saying that maybe language is different now than when the bible is written? And that MAYBE people should not continue to follow it literally?
AMEN!  :BangHead:

I believe I know of which religion you speak.  My husband is a follower of that religion, and I study it as well.  I believe that all religion has a certain validity to it...when it comes to individuals.  Its often been said about my main religion (Judaism) that if you walk into a room with four Jews, you'll find five different Judaisms.  I believe that is the case with all religion.  And I believe the main tenant of the other religion of which I speak and study is one of the most important lessons that everyone should learn.

11 Famous Figures Who Battled Mental Illness

Maybe this should read "Famous figures who battled depression."  That may be a little less misleading.

I agree with you, absolutely.

Ok, here is a hypothetical situation but:

What if something horrible happened to you? Like you were assaulted or raped.  And to get over the traumatic experience you turned to Christianity and the bible? THEN, you found out that the bible condones the act of rape?  Would you feel betrayed?  Would you question how you could ever blindly follow something that condones possibly the most horrific thing one human could do to another?

Okay, Hypotheically, I would definitely question it and wouldnt be a christian anymore. but thats just hypothetically

well I think this ia a very good conversation, I agree with Marieelissa not all Arabs are muslims and not all muslims are Arab, I think all relegions will lead to the presence of God and Only one God, all relegions will command you to be a good person no relegion will tell u be bad, and I think God sent the messangers to pepole to deliver the message know that God is there, be Good as God see you and know what you doing and there will be a day that u'll be rewarded for the good things u did and punished for the bad things u did, I think this is the main idea then all relegions have certain commands on how to be good and what you should do and what you shouldn't do, then it's ur decission being good or bad it's all up to you, there is some differences between as in christianity they beleive in Son of God in ISlam no God has no wife, no son's and when u do something wrong only you will be punished not your generation, so everyone is responsible of his actions.
