No I didn't do anything special today, but sat around and spend time with family.

I was glad for the day....to reflect and be thankful for everything I have.  Today, though, is a different story.  I think I've been scammed and will lose a lot of money in the next few days.  I fell for the #1 Mystery Shopper scam not once but I did it twice and there's nothing I can do about it.  While I was searching for an on-line job I ran across a job that was advertised as a mystery shopper.  I contacted the individual and was sent an "application" and then a "job".  I was to take a check that was being sent to me by UPS and cash it.  Then I was to send a portion of the money to an address I was given.  Well....I was so excited that I was going to be earning what seemed to be easy cash that I just blindly did it.  It was so easy that when I was contacted to repeat the process, I agreed.  I came home after sending the second money gram and googled "money gram mystery shopper scam".  I got so many websites on this subject and they all pretty much said the same thing.  Someone sends you, what looks like, a legitimate check and you cash it.  Then you immediately send most of the cash to the address provided via money gram through Walmart and you keep so much for your "salary".  Well.....in a few days (after all is over and untraceable) the check comes back to the bank because it is fraudulent and you are stuck paying the bank back.  I haven't heard from the bank yet but I'm expecting to any day.  Merry Christmas to me!  The old saying really is true.  If it seems too good to be true......it is.  :-(

:sad1: I'm sorry to hear that.. I get those checks in the mail all the time, and emails too. I know not to send money to anyone I don't know. I think it starts in Nigeria, so there is no way you are getting your money back.

Yeah I have seen so many offers like this. Many have legitimate looking web sites to go along with them and they often link or imply affiliation with obscure companies that are legit. I once recieved a very legitimate looking check for $5,000 for some lottery. All the bank info was correct and I considered depositing it and not sending there requested fee. Called the bank in Washinton state first though and they said it was a fraud. I was a little suprised that they did not seem to care much to try to investigate it. I didn't deposit it though as I'm sure I would have been charged a fee when it bounced.
